Our History:
The J. Eshelman building, in which The Perfect Gift now resides, has been a source of commerce since 1872, from the early days as a general store, to the feed store it became in later years.
Many years ago, the building was transformed to The Emporium, a well-knows co-op store in the area.
In 2003, Deborah Tangelder wandered into the then empty, Eshelman Building and found herself completely drawn to the idea of providing the community of Clarence with something special. A few weeks later, Deborah’s new baby was born, a “perfect gift from Above”, and thus inspired The Perfect Gift to open a short three months later – specializing in home décor and unique gifts.
Deborah’s goal is to provide an experience that is more than just shopping – it’s about visiting a hometown store in an atmosphere that makes visitors feel joyful, appreciated and apart of history.
Wander the aisles and you’ll feel the sense of history and timelessness. The store boasts the original cabinetry, shelving, and even the original rolling track ladders. Come visit us today for your perfect gift and make sure you leave some time to visit Get Heeled, a shoe boutique also owned by Deborah Tangelder, that carries shoes and accessories, and is connected to The Perfect Gift.
